The routes on this page were amongst the first services to have been introduced by Toop and Davis in prewar days, including Bere Regis to Poole by two different routes, and Bere Regis to Dorchester. The 1 and 1A were busy enough to have warranted double deck operation for many years. Hants & Dorset Motor Services Ltd also covered these routes with their service 11 Bournemouth - Poole - Bere Regis - Dorchester - Weymouth, 90 Poole - Lytchett Matravers - Winterborne Kingston - Bere Regis and 91 Poole - Lytchett Matravers - Bloxworth - Bere Regis.
